Dry conditions will prevail through early next week as high pressure strengthens off the coast and moves inland. 2. There is a 50 to 80 percent chance for wind gusts greater than 50 mph along the Mojave Desert Slopes today. 3. There is high confidence for a warming trend across the region this weekend, with the Climate Prediction Center giving an 80 to 90 percent chance for above normal temperatures in the 6 to 10 day outlook. && .DISCUSSION... Satellite loops show extensive high clouds across the region in association with an upper trough off the Pacific Northwest coast. This trough will move inland today with precipitation expected to remain to our north. The main impact will be increased winds along the Mojave Desert Slopes this afternoon through tonight. There is a 50 to 80 percent probability for wind gusts greater than 50 mph today with the focus during the evening time frame. Warm air advection will bump temperatures up to around 3 to 7 degrees above climatological averages this afternoon, which are mainly in the lower to middle 60s across the San Joaquin Valley. The upper trough will move east over the Great Basin on Thursday. A cooler northwest flow aloft will develop across central CA for temperatures lowering back to around climatological averages. An upper ridge over the eastern Pacific is expected to build inland Friday through the weekend. Temperatures rebound back to around 3 to 7 degrees above average on Friday and are then forecast to climb into the lower 70s across the SJ Valley this weekend. The probabilities for a high temperature greater than 70 degrees on Saturday ranges from 40 to 75 percent and then Sunday 70 to 95 percent. The probability for a high greater than 75 degrees is highest in Bakersfield on Sunday at 45 percent.
