...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING
FOR ELLIOTT, SOUTHERN MENIFEE, NORTHEASTERN POWELL, JOHNSON,
NORTHERN BREATHITT, EASTERN LEE, MAGOFFIN, MORGAN AND WOLFE
COUNTIES...

At 442 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches in 1
hour will continue in the stronger storms. Flash flooding is ongoing
or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Paintsville, West Liberty, Jackson, Salyersville, Sandy Hook,
  Frenchburg, Campton, Mason, Simpson, Henry, Lewis, Wellington,
  Campsites in the Indian Creek area of the Daniel Boone National
  Forrest, Holliday, Caney, Stacy Fork, Lykins, Well Station, Harper
  and Williams.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
