FXUS66 KHNX 121114 AFDHNX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Hanford CA 1010 PM PDT Fri Apr 11 2025 .UPDATE... Aviation Section Updated && && .KEY MESSAGES... 1. Dry weather will prevail through the upcoming week. 2. Temperatures will remain above normal through the next week with afternoon highs approaching 15 degrees above normal on Monday. 3. Strong wind gusts are favorable to return to the Mojave Desert Slopes again today and Saturday. && .DISCUSSION... Current satellite shows some high clouds rapidly moving to the northeast, up the windward side of a high pressure ridge parked over the southwest of the CONUS, while marine clouds shift to the south ahead of a cold front moving in from the Pacific. This cold front is associated with a low pressure system located up in Canada. This cold front will cross our CWA tonight, resulting in a slight cooling of afternoon highs and cause some breezy winds along the Mojave Slopes today and again tomorrow as a weak low passes through the region. A return to ridging is expected for a short time on Monday, with highs forecast to be well above average. Soon after, a trough is expected to come down from the pattern above the Pacific on Tuesday and be pulled lower by leftover energy above California. This may result is a cutoff low being formed, and a small amount of moisture may be pulled in and mountain showers or thunderstorms with a 10 to 15 percent chance. A ridge may then build in on top of that cutoff, which would hold it in place into next Friday, resulting in a slow cooling of temperatures, though highs are expected to remain in the 80's in the Valley through the next week. There is also the possibility that highs in the Valley dip into the high 70's next Friday, with a 30 to 40 percent chance of highs less than 80 degrees in the Valley. && .AVIATION... 12Z Update: VFR Conditions will prevail for the next 24 hours. && .AIR QUALITY ISSUES...
