FXUS65 KGGW 302112 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 312 PM MDT Wed Apr 30 2025 .DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGES: 1) Expect lingering isolated rain showers through Thursday. 2) Warmer temperatures are expected this weekend which may increase fire weather concerns. 3) A change to wetter and cooler conditions is possible early to middle portions of next week. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Isolated rain shower regime looks to continue into Thursday. Late Thursday, winds do look to shift north and increase to a range of 5 to 15 kts with occasional higher gusts to 25 kts. This looks to be shy of Lake Wind criteria for Fort Peck Lake at the moment, but it is close and will need to be monitored. Expect upper level ridging to give rise to drier and hotter weather conditions heading into the second half of this week, particularly over the weekend. Given the dry spell in place, will need to monitor for increased fire weather concerns. Ensembles depict the ridging shifting east early to mid next week with cooler temperatures and increasing rain chances. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Given spotty coverage, low confidence exists on rain chances into Thursday. High confidence exists on warmer weather with the broad upper level ridge pattern setting up through this weekend. NBM handled this forecast well, but future shifts should consider whether a blend of HREF or NBM90 may tilt the breezy conditions on Thursday into Lake Wind territory, or if it remains just shy. && .AVIATION... LAST UPDATED: 2100Z FLIGHT CAT RANGE: VFR. DISCUSSION: Mid and high clouds will prevail with isolated showers, though do not expect significant reductions in ceiling height or visibility tonight into Thursday unless under a steadier remote shower. WIND: Light and variable winds overnight will shift north to northwest at 5 to 15 kts on Thursday. && .GGW WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... None. && $$ weather.gov/glasgow
